FIRM HISTORY Mr. John N. Durnin, CPA, Managing Director of Durnin & James, CPA's, has been serving Tangipahoa and the surrounding parishes since 1969. To accommodate an increasing client base and increased staff needs, the firm established offices in Amite, LA during August of 1983. In January 1993, Dennis James, CPA, joined the firm as partner. In 1995, the firm opened a second office in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.  This second office in the southern part of Tangipahoa Parish allowed the firm to expand rapidly over the next four years.  New facilities were necessary to accommodate the rapid growth of the firm. It was decided that consolidation in Hammond would be the strategy for Durnin & James CPA’s. A stately three-story building located next to City Hall in downtown Hammond was acquired and renovated. Renovations included state of the art telecommunications, dedicated communication lines, significant interior and exterior improvements, and a new parking lot. The firm renders professional services in the areas of auditing, general accounting, taxation, estate planning, data processing, litigation support and management advisory services. We have a wide variety of clients that include municipalities, governmental units, Not-for-profit organizations, attorneys and other professionals, manufacturing firms, retailers, wholesales and others. The firm's goal has always been, and will continue to be, one of providing our clients with the prompt and effective service of the highest quality. We encourage our personnel to actively participate in professional and civic organizations.
